Underrated no more

Even now in September, lists on the best films this year are starting to creep out. The better ones tend to highlight movies that probably won’t feature on the major stages down the track, like Indie Outlook’s 10 Underrated Performances of 2014, which includes SBS favourites Ida and Child’s Pose.

The great big buzz off

The Toronto International Film Festival has just begun and as always, Oscar buzz, for better or worse, will play a huge role in how many of the movies will fare down the track. Vulture’s Kyle Buchanan scans the 300-film programme and predicts which 15 titles making their world premiere will fire up the pundits.
