Daddy Day Camp Review

Daddy Day Camp is the sequel to the 2003 comedy Daddy Day Care which starred Eddie Murphy. This time, Cuba Gooding Junior has taken over the role of Charlie Hinton, the suburban dad who gave up his job to run a day care centre.

Now, a few years on and armed with success, Charlie and his business partner Phil, decide to invest in a run down camp in order to give their children a quality camp experience.

Charlie's old archrival Lance, who owns the neighbouring camp, is hell bent on sabotaging Charlie's camp so he can buy it at a cheaper price when it goes belly up!

At this point, I was praying Charlie would give in to Lance so we could all go home! But unfortunately we still had 70 minutes to go!

Fred Savage, from TV's “The Wonder Years” is at the helm and at times it was like watching a really average episode of “The Brady Bunch” where everything from the set to the situation feels fake and forced…

Sequels are hard to pull off at the best of time, but this one suffers from a lame, clichéd script, over the top acting and poor direction. At least with the first film, the comedic talents of Eddie Murphy and Steven Zahn offered some respite from the silliness of the script. With Daddy Day Camp there is no respite.

Why Oscar winner Cuba Gooding Junior would even consider this movie defies belief - his agent should be sacked. 1 star, Daddy Day Camp is in cinemas now.
