Dead Man Walking review

An important film, beautifully made.

Margaret Pomeranz: A very emotional film based on the true-life experience of a nun, Sister Prejean, and her role as a spiritiual advisor to a man on death row. The two central roles are played by Susan Sarandon and Sean Penn.

The film is extraordinary in the way it presents the prisoner as unlikeable, the parents of the victim so sympathetically, it doesn't flinch from presenting the crime committed, and yet, it's a film that undoubtedly is against capital punishment.

David Stratton: I think it's an important film and a beautifully made film too, I loved it. ★★★★★
