The Melbourne International Film Festival has revealed a few highlights from its 2012 program, with big Cannes drawcards such as Michael Haneke's Palm d'or winner Amour, Wes Anderson's Moonrise Kingdom, and Benh Zeitlin's Beasts of the Southern Wild, figuring in the lineup.
The announcement comes on the eve of the Sydney Film Festival where these titles will have their Australian premieres.
Melbournians will also have the opportunity to see Berlin Film Festival favourites such as Barbara (pictured) and Tabu.
The list of 16 feature films announced in the line-up follows earlier news that Wayne Blair's The Sapphires will open MIFF on August 2.

Organisers have also revealed a look at this year's commemorative poster, which triumphantly champions the 35mm format.
