Ella Enchanted Review

This post modern fractured fairy tale begins with the beautiful Ella (played by Anne Hathaway, star of The Princess Diaries), having the gift of obedience bestowed on her by her inept fairy godmother (Vivica A. Fox). Joanna Lumley is the ultimate wicked stepmother, Dame Olga, whose two deceitful daughters, quickly learn how to control Ella. Eventually she sets out to find her godmother to take back the ?gift?. This is a refreshing and visually entertaining coming of age film for girls. Ella is a positive role model who stays true to herself, and shows that sometimes it?s better to break the rules when you know they?re wrong. With strong performances, and Eric Idle as the narrator (references to Monty Python abound), Ella is an enchanting tale which the whole family will enjoy.
