Robert Macdougall, Sean Connery, is a professional thief; Virginia Baker, Catherine Zeta-Jones, is an insurance investigator. Mac uses all the very latest technology to help him break into high rise buildings and steal priceless works of art, and after each heist he returns to his Scottish castle to plan the next one. Gin persuades her boss that she can trap Mac by pretending she wants him to help her plan another robbery. The stage is set for some nail-biting suspense, and also for a May-November romance.... Entrapment is also quite an old-fashioned film - it harks back to all those 60s movies about elaborate robberies, and thieves falling out. What`s fresh about it, though, is the dazzling high tech on display, and the sizzling Catherine Zeta-Jones, who wielded a sword in The Mask of Zorro and proves very adept here at just about everything. The plot`s preposterous, but somehow it doesn`t matter, because Connery is so charming and urbane, very much in the Cary Grant mould, and the romance, which you`d think would be a bit off given the age difference, is actually a sizzler. The exciting climax is set in Kuala Lumpur as the new century arrives, and it`s a gripping finale to a very professional slice of entertainment.
