It was a show that featured big notes, bigger props, wind machines and pyrotechnics. It had a parade of past winners and runners-up. It had bloc voting (shocker). It had a magic trick (allegedly). It had Verka. It had Conchita. It had Mans. It had Madonna. It had a political protest from Iceland.
And the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest had something else, too: a winner. The Netherlands.
Duncan Laurence went into the final as the favourite with 'Arcade', and he emerged victorious, edging our Sweden's John Ludvik and North Macedonia's Tamara Todevska to take the top prize.
Australia's Kate Miller-Heidke ranked 9th place overall, for her pop opera, 'Zero Gravity'.
