Eve, 57, had a background in fashion before she set about raising her family of six children and caring for her elderly parents. Like many other Australian women who put their family first, Eve has now been out of the workforce for 20 years — “I've put my heart and my soul into my children and it needs to be my turn now”.
Age discrimination is becoming an ever-increasing problem for the Australian workplace - one in 10 unemployed Australians are now over the age of 55. So Eve took the initiative of starting up her own clothing label specialising in up-cycling pre-loved clothing. She is seeking guidance and support around growing Eve Amanda into a scalable business.
Where is she now?
After achieving a spot in the final six of The Employables as part of the fashion team, Eve decided that continuing to develop her own clothing label was still her dream.
And so Eve Amanda was born. Eve is now showcasing her transformed pre-loved garments on her business website and through shops in NSW and the ACT.
She is continuing to experiment with re-constructing clothing via different methods including sewing, fabric painting and fringing denim.
Eve has also taken on a role to teach sewing classes to women through the Liverpool Neighbourhood Centre.
