Germany's iconic film industry produced such masters of the form as Murnau and Herzog. Unfiortunately, it also gave us Uwe Boll (pictured), a director whose oeuvre of video-game inspired films has earned him a reputation as this generation's 'Ed Wood'. Already a 'Razzie' Lifetime Achievement honoree (he's 47), Boll does not take kindly to criticism – in 2006, he challenged any detractors to a 10-round boxing bout, dubbed 'Raging Boll'. Some of his most inspired creative decisions include casting American Pie starlet Tara Reid in the career-killing role of a 'hot archeologist' in Alone in the Dark and securing Oscar-winner Ben Kingsley and Meat Loaf to play opposite each other in his follow-up film, BloodRayne (of which one critic mused, “So how does a filmmaker bounce back from an almost universally reviled action-horror mistake? Well, if your name is Uwe Boll, you don't.“)
