Here at SBS, we love a sexy soft-core farce as much as anyone. But even the most base urges are tested by the Italian commercial film industry's contribution to the genre through the 70s and 80s. The 'commedia sexy all'italiana' ('Sexy comedy, Italian style') was a genre steeped in the most puerile of body-centric thrills – curvy starlets being spied upon through open bathroom windows; grotesquely bumbling fat men who sweat and fart a lot; the mini-skirted hired-help being leered from below while performing household chores that always seemed to require ladders. For the finest examples of this proud period in Italian cinema, check out the works of 'diva nude' actress Edwige Fenech, notably the blockbuster Ulbada (aka, Ulbada, All Naked and Warm), the school-teacher fantasy L'insegnante or her fetish-infused 'policewoman' series (especially La Poliziotte fa Carriera, pictured).
