The annual celebration of contenmporary French cinema is back in 2014, celebrating its 25th birthday.

The Alliance Francaise French Film Festival anniversary program will feature over 40 new French features and documentaries, set to screen in seven sities around Australia, including Byron Bay, which is staging the festival for the first time.

The 25th edition will launch with Nils Tavernier's inspiring story of a demanding endurance race with a difference, The Finishers. It stars Jacques Gamblin and Alexandra Lamy in the story of an ex-iron man who has grown distant from his family, and especially his disabled son. The two seek to renew their bond by competiing in a triathlon through the South of France, and drawing strength from their respecitve differences. From there, the program offers a host of classic and contemporary French comedies, tragedies and crime thrillers, until it closesd with a commemorative screening of Jacques Tati's classic comedy, Mon Oncle.
