French provocateur Gaspar Noe's Love is set to screen uncut in Australian cinemas, after it received an R-rating from the classification authority (along with strong consumer advice: 'scenes of actual sexual activity, graphic nudity and sexual themes').
The 3D film is described as Noe's most personal exploration of sexuality to date, and tells of a wannabe filmmaker who lives with his girlfriend and their son, but dwells on the deep fantasies he harbours for a woman from his past.
Love premiered at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival and has subsequently screened at both the Melbourne International Film Festival and the Sydney Underground Film Festival, with festival exemptions. Now that the film has been cleared for release, the Australian distributors – Exile Entertainment and Bounty Entertainment – have announced a limited season at Melbourne’s Lido Cinemas (via Monster Fest) from October 29. Further one-off event screenings are planned for Sydney and Melbourne
Following its cinema season, Love will screen on subscription television as part of World Movies' 'Summer of Sin' season in early 2016.
