When the company Graham, 63, worked for went into receivership, he was made redundant and found himself unable to get another job. In Australia, people looking for work who are aged 60 years and over are considered to be in the most “hopeless” situation.

“Eventually I was told I was just too old for what people were looking for,” says Graham, who decided that if no-one would employ him he would put his training as a reflexologist, hypnotherapist and massage therapist to good use and create his own job. He wants to start a business that provides therapy to dementia patients.

Where is he now?

As part of the final 12 of The Employables and an attendee at boot camp, Graham is utilising his new found business skills plus his skills in hypnotherapy, remedial massage and reflexology within his business, The Shire Remedial Clinic in Sutherland, NSW. His current focus is on delivering hypnotherapy sessions as part of a Workplace Quit Smoking Program. Graham also has an interest in visiting farming communities to help farmers quit smoking and manage stress, anxiety and depression through clinical hypnotherapy.

Graham is still working on his business idea for the Reflexed Hypnotics Program, a program designed to help people living with dementia, their carers and loved ones to have a better quality of life through the use of hypnotherapy.
