'Hollywood' goes global

World audiences are about to get a taste of Ozploitation classics, thanks to Not Quite Hollywood.

Mark Hartley’s debut feature Not Quite Hollywood has been sold to several countries following its screening at the Toronto International Film Festival. The documentary is director Hartley's ode to the gory, bawdy and ballsy Australian films of the 1970s and early 1980s, which have to date been overlooked by high brow historians.

Rights for Not Quite Hollywood have been sold to France and Russia (Surreal), the UK (Optimum), Benelux (Brunbo), Iceland (Greenlight), Germany (Legend), and Canada (Mongrel). The deals were closed by Laird Adamson of Magnolia Pictures International. Magnolia will release Not Quite Hollywood in the US later this year. Not Quite Hollywood will next screen at the London Film Festival in October and will play at Austin, Sitges and Stockholm Festivals.
