Horror frnachises go head to head

Most probably a drawcard for lovers of the genre but don't set your expectations too high.

The two horror franchises Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street meet head to head in Freddy versus Jason in which the razor fingered dream invader has a final showdown with the hockey masked machete wielding killer. Freddy, the perennial Robert Englund, is mouldering away in Hell, all the kids who remember him are locked away in an asylum, doped up to sleep and not dream. If no-one remembers him he can't come back. So he sends Jason, now played by Ken Kirzinger, to Elm Street on a murderous spree, hoping that he will reawaken memories and so give the hatted one access to the world he loves to hate. Lori, Monica Keena, is still missing Will, Jason Ritter. She hasn't heard from him in years and it's no wonder because he's in the asylum. When the first murder happens Will escapes, hoping to warn Lori. But mayhem is already walking the streets. This clash of the horror titans seems a bit tired. There's not much vested interest in either Freddy's or Jason's supremacy and the dread I remember from earlier Elm Street days is notably missing. Directed by Ronny Yu, Freddy versus Jason is most probably a drawcard for lovers of the genre but don't set your expectations too high.
