Genevieve Bailey’s award-winning documentary I Am Eleven has secured a cinema release in North America, four years after its Australian premiere.

I Am Eleven will have a staged release in the US starting in New York September 12, then Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston, Chicago, Washington DC before a national expansion.

The film chronicles the experiences of a diverse group of 11 year-olds from across the globe, as they approach their teenage years. It premiered at the 2010 Melbourne International Film Festival and later enjoyed an 8-month cinema run across Australia when Bailey self-distributed it through her Melbourne based company Proud Mother Pictures with Henrik Nordstrom.

“We are thrilled to finally be releasing I Am Eleven in the US as the demand has been strong and we have always wanted to connect with audiences across the globe," Baliey said in a statement. "We shot the film in 15 countries and we’ve been passionate and very hands-on with the film's distribution to date.“

The film is being released theatrically by New York distributor International Film Circuit and with Theatrical On Demand partners Gathr Films based in Los Angeles.
