Intense portrayals of a pivotal friendship

This beautifully imagined film dares us to never lose our youthful ability to fantasise.

The major release this New Years? Day is Finding Neverland.

Johnny Depp plays author J.M. Barrie, under contract to manager Charles Frohman (Dustin Hoffman), to write plays for the London stage. He desperately needs a hit and is struggling with writers block. Inspiration arrives when he befriends the children of recently widowed Sylvia Davis (Kate Winslet). With the help of her four young boys his imagination is unleashed as he rediscovers the child within. Unfortunately Victorian society disapproves of his relationship with the family and among those most offended are his wife, and also Sylvia?s mother played by Julie Christie.

Depp and Winslet deliver intense and sensitive portrayals of a friendship that inspired the timeless classic. Freddie Highmore is exceptional as the young Peter Davis, the boy that Peter Pan was based on. This beautifully imagined film dares us to never lose our youthful ability to fantasise.
