Likable look at depressed generation

It\'s rather effective, surprisingly romantic at times, very atmospheric, with great use of music and lots of youthful energy.

The film is constructed to look like a self-produced magazine, so that scenes are shot on different kinds of stock, and on video, and it all has a deliberate pasted-together look. It`s rather effective, surprisingly romantic at times, very atmospheric, with great use of music and lots of youthful energy. The three actors are very good, and there are a couple of lovely scenes involving Jack`s dinky di parents, Tony Barry and Julie Hamilton. A small film, but a very likable one.Margaret`s Comments:Fresh Air encapsulates the inner city life of three young people who have artistic aspirations but, in the process, major frustrations. It`s about lethargy and energy, it`s about small pleasures and not too many major ones. The film features one standout performance from Nadine Garner and mostly OK ones from those around her. Garner`s performance ensures our participation in her experiences. However the film is basically not entertaining enough for anyone outside this particular generation, and possibly not entertaining enough for anyone in it. It has a vague sense of smugness and parochialism which works against accessibility.
