Local thriller The Loved Ones will make its UK premiere at this month's Film4 FrightFest, the renowned fantasy and horror film festival, to be held at the Empire cinema in London's West End.
The screening caps off a successful festival run for the film, which has screened at the Toronto International Film Festival (where it won Midnight Madness), SXSW, Melbourne, Sydney, New Zealand, Hong Kong, San Fransico, and Dallas film festivals.
Byrne's film revolves around Brent (Samuel), a teenager who has never fully recovered from the guilt about being behind the wheel in a car accident that killed his father. His loving girlfriend is helping him heal, until he becomes the object of the quietest girl in school's obsessive fantasties, and is thrust into a macabre nightmare involving the ones he loves most.
