Lohan does well to match Curtis

With this sort of broad farce, based on a fairly incredible premise performances are everything.

Jamie Lee Curtis plays single mom and working shrink Tess Coleman. she\'s a widow but is on the verge of remarrying a decent bloke Ryan, Mark Harmon. Her teenage daughter Anna, Lindsay Lohan, is chafing at the situation, she monsters her younger brother, is angry and resentful. At school she finds the boy she likes Jake, Chad Michael Murray, a bit elusive but her main frustration is that the band she plays in has a chance at an important audition on Friday night, the very night of her mother\'s pre-nuptual dinner. On the Thursday evening at a Chinese restaurant she and her mother squabble. The elderly mother of the owner overhears this and offers them both a fortune cookie. When they wake up on Friday, it is freaky - Anna and Tess have swapped bodies. This Disney film, based on a popular novel by Mary Rodgers is a remake of the 1976 film which starred Barbara Harris and Jodie Foster. With this sort of broad farce, based on a fairly incredible premise performances are everything. Jamie Lee Curtis throws herself into the role of Tess with gusto, demonstrating what a fine comedic actress she is. Her physicality is nothing short of impressive. And she\'s nicely matched by Lohan. The film is schmalzy, both women learn good things from the experiences of being in the others\' body, but director Mark Waters doesn\'t go too far overboard in drumming the life lessons into us.Comments by David StrattonSurprisingly funny, and accurate, depiction of contemporary mother-daughter relationships. Two excellent performances, and some great moments make up for the fact that the ending is pretty conventional and safe.
