MIFF on track with a new short film comp

Call for entries for Lights, Camera TRACKtion: Melbourne Shorts presented by Yarra Trams

The Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF) is asking filmmakers to submit their short film for the Lights, Camera TRACKtion: Melbourne Shorts presented by Yarra Trams competition. This special event will be held at the 2009 Festival to celebrate Melbourne's iconic trams on film. Entry is open to all short films (Fiction, Documentary, Animation, Experimental and Music Videos) and must feature either a tram or trams as a focal point or as imagery in the film.

A judging panel will select the best ten and they will be shown at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) on Thursday 6 August, 2009 at 7.00pm. First ($3500), second ($2500) and third prizes ($1000) will be awarded on the night by a judging panel made up of prominent film industry and Melbourne personalities.

All films submitted must be made specifically for the competition and be its first public screening. Films submitted must also be no longer than five minutes.

The deadline for Lights, Camera, TRACKtion is 5pm Friday 5 June 2009. Entry forms can be downloaded from www.melbournefilmfestival.com.au/lightscameratracktion and yarratrams.com.au
