Mongolia, 30 years ago. A Black Stallion, an orphan and the girl he loved...

Adapted from a story titled \"A Song of the Grassland\", A Mongolian Tale is a beautiful, poetic saga set on the vast steppes of the landlocked country sometime in the recent past. It`s the story of two orphaned children, a boy and a girl, who are from different families but who are raised as brother and sister by an indomitable old woman. The two live the lives of shepherds and because of tradition the boy, not the girl, receives an education; and it`s this crucial difference that determines the future of the characters. Chinese director Xie Fei, who made Women Of The Lake Of Scented Souls, extracts natural performances from his actors and unfolds this simple but touching story against a magnificent background of the rarely seen Mongolian landscape.
