National Treasure Review

Step aside Indiana Jones as Nicholas Cage and an all star cast go on the ultimate conspiracy-fuelled treasure hunt. Cage stars as Benjamin Franklin Gates, whose family has searched for the legendary treasure of the Knights Templar for six generations. The clues to its location are on the dollar bill, an ancient ship buried in the Arctic, and written in invisible ink on the back of the Declaration Of Independence. As the ubiquitous baddies are closing in on the treasure, Cage has to steal the Declaration for the good of all. Oh and did I mention the FBI?s on his tail as well? This is the most ridiculous and inadvertently hilarious film I have seen all year. With its secret codes, puzzles, heroes and villains, and the most preposterous coincidences, National Treasure is more scavenger hunt than treasure hunt, and certainly not an unravelling of America?s secret history.
