Ordinary plot told in American teenspeak

A magnificent concept has been almost completely ruined by the dumbing down of the characters.

65 million years ago an Iguanodon egg is snatched from its nest by a flying creature and deposited far away in a forest where lemurs are the dominant species. Like Tarzan, young Aladar grows up far from his own kind, but when a meteor storm destroys the land of the lemurs he leads an expedition to find a safe place - and soon joins up with other dinosaurs, led by the ill-tempered Bruton....Visually, Dinosaur is a magnificent achievement. The usual high standard of Disney character animation is given a real-life backdrop - magnificent wilderness landscapes filmed in many parts of the world. Sadly, the plot is pretty ordinary and, worse, the voices given to many of the creatures are the most annoying kind of American teenspeak: in other words, a magnificent concept has been almost completely ruined by the dumbing down of the characters. Only Joan Plowright`s dignified Brachiosaur offers any release from the infuriating hip talk of the rest of the characters.
