Paris in Happiness? It could, like, work

Todd Solondz has cast sometime actor/full-time 'heirhead' Paris Hilton in his follow-up to Happiness.

We can only trust that there's method to this apparent madness so we'll wait to see the results before passing judgement (As much as we really, really might want to...).

Pee Wee Herman (a.k.a. Paul Reubens) is also attached to star... but on the plus side, so are Allison Janney, Ciaran Hinds, Charlotte Rampling and Shirley Henderson.

The as-yet-untitled film revisits the story of the disturbingly memorable 1998 film, with new actors in the roles made famous by Jane Adams, Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Lara Flynn Boyle.

A rough clip from the film (to the temporary strains of Sonic Youth's 'Superstar') is available to view at the production company's website. It features Henderson, who has taken over the role of Joy (made famous by Jane Adams in the original), mid-sleepwalk...

Solondz says of the plan to revisit Happiness, “Ten years have passed since Happiness but I prefer not to be beholden to the literalness of time or circumstance. I like to tweak things, get at stuff from a fresh angle, and so, for example, some characters have aged five years, some twenty years, some histories have been altered, and I have allowed race not to be something set in stone. Of course, it's a completely different cast.

"It's more fun and interesting that way."

Let's hope so...
