Cole Porter lived life, according to this film, as though every day would be his last and Kevin Kline intelligently portrays Porter?s charms and flaws. His performance is mischievous and clever - although his singing voice is grating after awhile. Even though De-lovely\'s big revelation is that Porter regularly slept with men, this is strictly a heterosexual love story, with elegant costumes and choreography. The film is most entertaining when it recreates Cole Porter\'s famous tunes and musicals, but for a guy who wrote a song like Aint Misbehavin ? De-Lovely is overly polite.
