Sandra Bullock stars as a beautiful housewife, living in a beautiful home with a great husband and two gorgeous kids. The only problem threatening her perfect world is premonitions of her husband's death.
Every night she dreams of his demise and each morning she wakes to find he is well and very much alive. Adding to her dilemma, the days of the week are out of order, which sends poor Sandra into a tailspin.
Oh dear! With so many plot inconsistencies and illogical set-ups, Premonition is a mess from start to finish. It defies comprehension … you have a respected Director, Mennan Yapo and a big star. I kept thinking surely there will be some amazing conclusion that exonerates all that went before… but no!
Of course Premonition is well shot, with all the slickness that a big Hollywood production can buy, but the film simply doesn't know what it is. It swings wildly from a psychological drama to horror then descends into melodrama.
I should add, you have to be a Sandra Bullock fan to enjoy this film. She is in every scene, giving pretty much the same performance she has done for most of her career, with the exception of crash and Infamous.
Australian born Julian McMahon, of TV series “Nip/Tuck”, plays the husband and probably thought this was his ticket to celluloid fame… well think again Julian. If I were you, I'd be praying “Nip/Tuck” has a way to go yet.
Sandra Bullock has stated that she was frustrated and challenged during the shooting of Premonition, that she had no idea what was going on with her character or what day it was….
Oh dear Sandra … you think you were challenged!
I don't like leaving a cinema this confused… I'm giving it 1 1/2 stars.
