Rugrats In Paris Review

The focus of the film is the best friend of Tommy Pickles, Chucky Finster who really notices that he doesn`t have a mommy to dance with at a godfather-style wedding. Before you can say poo, fart or vomit the Pickles family, with cousin Angelica in tow as well as Chuckie and his father are off to Paris where Tommy`s father has to repair a gigantic mechanical dinosaur, the Reptar which is to be the featured centrepiece of a Japanese-owned theme park. The themepark`s manager is Coco La Bouche and she has her sights set on the President`s job when her boss retires, but he only wants to hire someone who loves kids. Coco decides to demonstrate her fondness for little folk by marrying Chuckie`s father and becoming a stepmom. Not a good idea at all.....These little Rugrats are an insidious anarchic lot, and people are worried about the effect of Hannibal on children! The film`s cleverly conceived in bright bouncy colours with lots of action and jokes about bodily functions as well as nods to various films and a dig at Disney. And to add to its suitability for the very young it`s mercifully short, under 80 minutes. The rugrats succeed well as entertainers but as role models? One shudders
