Rise of the Zombies
You will find The Walking Dead rather tame after watching Rise of the Zombies, which offers tenfold the amount of blood and torn limbs than the TV series. A group of survivors hide on Alcatraz Island to escape from rising zombie hordes. When their refuge is overrun, the group splits up, some seeking a cure and the others seeking a way to survive.
Cockneys Versus Zombies
In this hilarious Shaun of the Dead-style "zom-com", a bunch of cockneys fight their way out of a zombie-infested London, led by an unlikely gang of hopeless banks robbers who find themselves having to team up with badass pensioners. When facing the undead, these show-stealing old geezers show they still have a few tricks up their sleeves.
Zombie Night
This entertaining gorefest by American studio The Asylum (who specialise in low-budget horror movies such as Sharknado) stars Daryl Hannah (Kill Bill) and Anthony Michael Hall (Breakfast Club, The Dark Knight). As night falls in a small California town, the dead rise from its graves and two families must put aside their bitter enmity to survive a ravenous horde of undead monsters until sunrise.
The Zombinator
What starts as a documentary about a fashion blogger takes a very unfabulous turn when Youngstown Ohio college students come face-to-face with zombies. Their only hope is a former soldier (the "Zombinator") trying to protect them from the mercenary who developed the serum that causes zombie-ism.
Battledogs
When a werewolf virus is unleashed upon New York, the world's only chance at survival lies with an infected wildlife photographer (Ariana Richards, the now fully grown little girl from Jurassic Park) and an Army general who is determined to find the cure. Meanwhile, a rogue general wants to establish a new canine super-army. Fans of werewolves running amok and over-the-top CGI are well served in this dog-eat-man movie.
Robotropolis
In a futuristic world, a group of reporters are covering the unveiling of a new facility that is maintained by robot prototypes. When one of the robots goes haywire, this utopian place soon turns into a bloody battlefield, and the reporters find themselves fighting for their lives against a horde of robots on a killing rampage. A CGI-heavy tale of machines gone very bad.
AE Apocalypse Earth
In this mockbuster of M. Night Shyamalan's After Earth starring Adrian Paul (Highlander: The Series) and Richard Grieco (21 Jump Street), the Earth is attacked by alien forces and a mass evacuation leads to a small group of survivors crash landing on a planet inhabited by cloaked figures. To get off the doomed planet, a green-skinned humanoid girl reckons a downed spaceship will do the trick.
Jack the Giant Killer
In this modern take on the children's tale Jack and the Beanstalk, giant beanstalk brings Jack to a land in the clouds filled with evil beasts. When the creatures make their way to the ground, Jack has the mighty task of stopping them from destroying earth and everyone in it. Big and bogus, like all good mockbusters should be.
Airplane Versus Volcano
As suggested by its title, this disaster movie follows a commercial airliner which gets trapped within a ring of erupting volcanoes. But when the relentless onslaught of lava and ash causes fear and distrust amongst the hapless passengers, it isn't just the volcanoes that pose threat. Aviaphobes beware.
