Jonathon Rhys Meyers plays a rising star who marries into a wealthy family but sets his sights on his best friend’s fiancée (Scarlett Johansson). Their whirlwind affair and its extraordinary consequences make for gripping viewing.

The Ghost Writer

Director: Roman PolanskiStarring: Ewan McGregor, Pierce Brosnan, Olivia WilliamsWhat's it about?An accomplished British writer (Ewan McGregor) takes on the task of ghostwriting the unfinished memoirs of a former British Prime Minister (Pierce Brosnan). What seems like a golden opportunity for the scribe soon sours when suggestions about the former-PM’s involvement in state-sanctioned torture may have something to do with the last ghostwriter’s untimely death. This atmospheric thriller from Roman Polanski resonates with topical themes, and features excellent performances from Ewan McGregor and Pierce Brosnan as the charismatic pollie.

Director: Kevin Smith Starring: Michael Parks, Melissa Leo, John GoodmanWhat's it about?Kevin Smith (of Clerks and Mallrats fame) tackles America's divisive culture wars in this ideological comedy thriller. Smith skewers entrenched religious intolerance and abuse of power in the story of a trio of young teens who get caught up with teh charismatic leader of a fundamentalist Baptist church that takes a dim view towards homosexuality (you can bet that any and all similarities to actual people and events are well and truly intended).  A terrorism sub-plot rounds out the percevied threats in Smith's divisive contemporary satire.
