What's it about?
The story, told in flashback, of two very different young British sprinters competing in the 1924 Summer Olympics. Eric, a serious Christian Scotsman, believes that he has to succeed as a testament to his undying religious faith. Harold is a Jewish Englishman who wants desperately to be accepted and prove to the world that Jews are not inferior. The 1981 film was nominated for seven Academy Awards and won four, including Best Picture and Best Original Score for its unforgettable theme song by Vangelis.
