Writer/director Ivan Sen has started filming his new feature film, Mystery Road, in Queensland this week.

Aaron Pedersen stars as a detective tasked with investigating the murder of an indigenous teenage girl, whose body was left near a truck stop. The supporting cast is a who's-who of Australian talent, including Hugo Weaving, Jack Thompson, Ryan Kwanten, Tony Barry, Tasma Walton, Damian Walshe-Howling, David Field and Robert Mammone. They are joined by newcomers Trisha Whitton and Siobhan Binge in the cast.

Mystery Road is written and directed by Sen and produced by Mad Bastards' David Jowsey, with Michael Wrenn as executive producer. Sen will also shoot and edit the film himself, as he last did with his most recent feature film, Toomelah.

Production is currently underway in the central Queensland town of Winton. Mystery Road will be released in Australia by a new distribution outfit, Management of Doubt.
