The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara will reunite Spielberg, who may also direct the film, with his Lincoln and Munich screenwriter Tony Kushner, who is penning the script based on David Kertzer's book of the same name, according to Variety.com.
The film will centre on the Italian Jew, who was removed from his home by authorities of the Papal States and raised as a Catholic. He subsequently went on to become a priest.
