Taut drama about fragile suburbia

Envy creates an effective sense of menace out of a very realistic scenario, helped by all the performances.

Envy is about an ordinary suburban family, mother Kate, Linda Cropper, dad Phil, Jeff Truman and son Matt, Wade Osborne, who through a minor act of defiance become the victims of three anarchic young people, one of whom, Rachel, Anna Lise Philips deliberately sets out to attract Matt whom she then sexually humiliates with her boyfriend Nick, Scott Major. This act will have a splintering effect on the family with Kate determined to set right the wrong that`s been done to them. Envy creates an effective sense of menace out of a very realistic scenario, this family is believable, helped by all the performances. Linda Cropper is very strong as Kate. Jeff Truman who plays Phil wrote the film from an original screenplay by Trevor Shearston. This is a first feature from Julie Money and she shows real skill in delivering a taut drama about the fragile world of suburbia.
