Get ready to speak in tongues, bad boys. After a slight misstep last year, the Eurovision powerhouse that is Azerbaijan has regrouped and brought a powerful synth-pop gem to compete at this year’s contest. From songwriters Isa Melikov and Sandra Bjurman, who penned Azerbaijan’s victorious “Running Scared” in 2011, there’s nothing bare bones about “Skeletons”.

Dihaj, stage name for singer Diana Hajiyeva and her electronic music collective, has had her work described as “experimental doom pop” and “Skeletons” is reflective of this reference. Light electro verses crash into the big bold chorus which demands to be sung along to. And if Dihaj can deliver a spectacle on stage this could be the entry that sends the contest back to Baku.
