The artists of Eurovision 2017: Omar Naber – “On My Way” (Slovenia)

The Slovenian singer is sticking to the formula with his second appearance at Eurovision.

In 2005, Omar Naber took a self-penned song to the Eurovision Song Contest staged in Kyiv courtesy of a victory on a talent show the year prior. In 2017, Naber will take another self-penned song to Kyiv courtesy of a victory in EMA, the Slovenian national selection contest. Talk about a glitch in the matrix.

The question is: will history really repeat itself? Young Naber did not make it out of the semi-final wilderness on his first go-around.

“On My Way” is an inoffensive and pleasant enough ballad that would easily fit into a second-rate musical playing off Broadway. But pleasant won’t cut it in this competition. If Naber doesn't want to find himself on the way back to Ljubljana, he’ll need to bring more than his gold finger-less glove.
