The Game Plan Review

Joe Kingman is a star quarterback, who is more in love with himself and his achievements than any other character I've seen on the big screen in a long time. His life is glorious and successful until 8-year-old Peyton turns up, announcing she is his daughter…

Peyton leads her new found father into a world of ballet and dolls where he discovers that the love of a small child is worth more than all the trophies and money life can offer him.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson plays the egomaniacal Joe surprisingly well. He spends most of his time flashing his pearly whites and flexing his powerful pecks with glee seemingly oblivious to the low standard of material he is delivering.

I had to keep asking myself why an actor of Kyra Sedgwick's standard would be playing the thankless and clichéd role of the hard arse lawyer who hates little kids - I can only assume she is a big fan of The Rock! And at times I found myself wanting to side with the hard arse lawyer, because Peyton, played by Madison Pettis, although cute, is so precocious!

Not surprisingly, The Game Plan is brought to you by the Disney team. From the word go, this family comedy, is dripping in formula and clichés swinging from basic set ups to silly pay offs in the blink of an eye.

This is not going to be an easy watch for the adults, but it is so breathtakingly innocent that the kiddies or rather babies will love it! 1.5 stars.
