The Guide is joining forces with SBS Movies to live tweet the Oscars!

Never in the history of publishing on or off the Internet has such knowledge and hilarity been consolidated.

Once again, it’s that time of year when we all come together to celebrate the very best in creative achievement in film. To bestow honours on only those productions of the highest quality as well as the talented individuals who make them possible.

Oh and the Oscars are on too!

This year, the Academy Awards ceremony is especially important because it's the best opportunity anyone can come up with to get back at Donald Trump, who will be watching during Fox News commercials while wearing a KFC-stained bathrobe and firing off tweets from his personal (compromised by America's enemies) phone.

But we're assuming you're at work or doing something valuable with your time and not actually watching the live telecast, so we at the SBS Guide and SBS Movies have banded together to collect our perfectly calibrated cultural commentary in one web page, which you should share with your friends and keep open all day (but mainly between 12 and 4pm).

The Guide team is represented by editor Nick Bhasin (@nickbhasin) and producer Dan Barrett (@TheDanBarrett). Movies will be represented by editor Fiona Williams (@anythingbutfifi) and the SBS Movies feed (@SBSMovies).

It should be mentioned that Nick and Fiona are the co-hosts of wildly entertaining culture podcast, The Playlist, so you can expect a great deal of electricity, sharp insight and, if we’re all lucky, more of those hilarious Leonardo DiCaprio-wants-an-Oscar memes! Remember those?!?!

The Entertaining Oscars Commentary kicks off on at 12pm. Get ready to have an incredible time and we’ll see you on the red carpet!
