This 4-year-old kid lives every day like it's Star Wars Day

Little Harry Hopkirk is living large, crushing rebellion, as a pint-sized Supreme Commander of the Imperial Fleet.

If you haven’t checked the calendar today you’re missing out on the best Star Wars pun around. It’s May the fourth, geddit… MAY THE FOURTH… BE WITH YOU. Hurr hurr. But not only is it a great pun day it’s also officially celebrated amongst Star Wars nerds (aka everyone) as Star Wars Day.

Enter South Londoners James Hopkirk and his 4-year-old son Harry, two super massive Star Wars fans, the younger of the two being a particularly big fan.

Harry has a penchant for dressing up as his favourite character, the one and only Darth Vader, while his dad enjoys photographing the youngster for his Tumblr, Little Lord Vader. The photos usually involve Harry going about his day dressed as Luke Skywalker’s father (um, Spolier Alert). 

“Darth Vader is his favourite character, so I tried to track down a costume for him, just so that he could play in it," James tells us. "When it arrived, it was so good that I had to take a photo - I'm a photographer. From there, it just grew and we decided to publish them in time for Star Wars Day. 

"He wears the costume all the time - even to school when they had a dress up day."

For such a young'un, Harry has taken to the films at the speed of a Millennium Falcon. As his dad explains, it's in his blood. 

"I fell in love with Star Wars when I was about seven," says James. "My mum took me and my sister to see a triple bill of all three Star Wars movies when Return of the Jedi came out. We were only supposed to see A New Hope, but we ended up staying for all three. It was an incredible day. My son is four years old, and as the release date for The Force Awakens  approached, I realised I couldn't miss the opportunity for him to see it on the big screen when it first came out, so I had to quickly show him all of the other movies as well. He was hooked and now he's seen them all dozens of times." 

And you better believe they’ll both be celebrating today. “We're watching The Force Awakens at home. It's a school night so normally that wouldn't be allowed - but on May the 4th all the rules go out of the window. Harry will be wearing his Darth Vader costume, obviously."
