Travellers and Magicians

Travellers and Magicians is a Buddhist tale of parallel lives. In the Himalayan Mountains a young government officer Dondup, played by Tshewang Dendup, resists the status quo and dreams of a better life in America. When granted permission to travel to a religious festival, he makes his escape. Along the way, he meets a monk who tells him the story of a magician, and that's where Dondup's true journey begins, with the magician's tale becoming like a film within a film.

This spectacular road movie is the first feature shot entirely in Bhutan, with most of the roles performed by local people. It's quiet, contemplative pace and gentle humour transport you to a world of simple beauty, largely untouched by Western culture.
