When Gabriel - (Christian Campbell) - Neve`s brother, meets go-go dancer Mark - (John Paul Pitoc) in the subway late one night, it`s lust at first sight. Their attempts to find a private place to have sex are frustrated by Gabriel`s best friend, the narcissistically insensitive Katherine - (Tori Spelling) and by his equally egocentric straight flatmate Rich - (Brad Beyer.) Everywhere they turn, they`re frustrated by fate...The dialogue in Trick is very stilted, along with most of the performances - John Paul Pitoc is an exception and so is Clinton Leupp as a Tori Spelling lookalike drag queen - that was the one joke that worked well. I thought it had been adapted rather badly from a stage play but it`s based on an original screenplay by Jason Schafer who is a composer and songwriter. It`s a comedy of frustration and errors - and you can interpret that both ways.David`s Comments:A pleasant low budget romantic comedy, with good performances and interesting characters.
