US talk show host Ellen Degeneres has never shied away from using her platform to comment on the issues of the day.
On today's program (which has just aired in the U.S.) Degeneres uses that very platform to share just how she feels about President Donald Trump's latest immigration ban. In her trademark, totally "non-political" way.
She begins by explaining two events took place this last weekend: Trump's immigration ban on Friday, and a Trump family screening of Finding Dory at the White House on Saturday.
Finding Dory, the sequel to Disney Pixar's Finding Nemo, stars Ellen Degeneres as the voice of Dory.
"I don’t get political but I will say I am against one of those two things," she says.
"Like I said, I don’t get political so I'm not going to talk about the travel ban. I’m just going to talk about the non-political, very family-friendly, People’s Choice Award-winning Finding Dory."
Degeneres goes on to innocently explain the plot of the aquatic cartoon film.
"Dory lives in Australia… [Her parents] live in America," she explains. "And I don’t know what religion they are, but her dad sounds a little Jewish. Doesn’t matter."
As Degeneres continues to narrates the plot of Finding Dory, it's clear the film's story arc parallels Trump’s immigration policy ambitions, particularly when it comes to building a wall at the US-Mexican border.
FInding Dory tells the tale of an absent-minded and lovable fish named Dory who travels to America to visit her parents. On arrival she realises she's barred from entry by a giant wall.

“And you won’t believe it, but that wall has almost no effect in keeping them out,” recounts Degeneres.
Fortunately, with the help of other animals, “animals that don’t even need her or have anything in common with her", Dory succeeds in reconnecting with her family.
“Because that’s what you do when you see someone in need," Degeneres says. "You help them.”
