UK television channel, Sky, will air 1993 classic Groundhog Day on loop for 24-hours on 2 February, which is Groundhog Day.

The film will be aired 13 times in total, with the first show playing at 6:40am GMT.

The channel's clever programming choice has an additional layer; the film's plot is about a time loop where the main character, played by Bill Murray, is stuck in Groundhog Day, repeating the same day again and again.

Groundhog Day is a piece of American Pennslyvanian folklore where if a groundhog comes out of its burrow and sees its shadow, it is believed there wll be six more weeks of winter.  If the groundhog does not see its shadow, then spring will come early.
