The Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final was dramatic enough, with Jessica Mauboy contending for the top honour of Europe's (and.. Australia's) singing crown, but the event in Lisbon Portugal featured a momentary scare when a rogue reveller stormed the stage during the United Kingdom's performance.

Artist SuRie was midway through her pop song 'Storm' when the man rushed towards her and made a grab for the microphone. Ever the professional, she kept on singing and had the crowd of the Altise Arena entirely behind her.

During the broadcast, the Eurovision organisers issued a statement saying, “The EBU regrets a stage invasion took place during the UK performance at the Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final in Lisbon this evening. The person responsible is currently in police custody.

The UK singer SuRie and her team were  offered the option to sing again but decided not to because they were extremely proud of her performance and have decided that there is absolutely no reason to perform the song again.”

Watch SuRie's full performance in the Eurovision Grand Final on SBS and SBS On Demand tonight (Sunday) from 7.30pm.
