Under the Radar Review

Nathan Phillips stars as Brandon a knock about surfing champion. An incident of surf rage lands him a community service order in a home for the physically and mentally impaired. The film is played out through the eyes of Adrian, Clayton Watson, a resident who suffers from recurring amnesia. When Brandon orchestrates a day at the beach for Adrian. Trevor ?hell bent on escaping the institution, played by Steady Eddie ?blackmails his way aboard.Oh did I forget there?s also a beautiful hitch-hiker played by Chloe Maxwell (in her first feature role), rival gangsters, and of course, a deserted farm house. This film just couldn?t make up its mind, is it a comedy, thriller or drama? Still it manages to be entertaining and sometimes even hilarious. Radar harks back to a more innocent era of Australian film making and has all the elements of becoming a cult film in years to come
