Even now it is hard to believe that the attention of the world would be on a Senate race in Alabama. Yet here we are today. Following accusations by the Washington Post that far-right Republican candidate Roy Moore had initiated sexual conduct with a 14 year-old when he was 32, the Senate race between Moore and Democrat candidate Doug Jones intensified.
After an exceptionally tight result, Jones was announced as the winner. He is the first Democratic Senate candidate to win an election in Alabama for 25 years.
Tonight, VICE News Tonight will broadcast a one-off special episode dedicated to the Alabama Senate Race. For months, VICE News Tonight has been on the ground with correspondents and producers covering a range of detail around the race from former Vice President Joe Biden’s initial endorsement of Democratic Senate candidate Doug Jones and the Republican run-off, to the view of older female voters and an in-depth look at the power of the black vote.
VICE News Tonight airs at 7:35pm on SBS VICELAND. It will be available straight after at SBS On Demand.
