Justine (Laura Fraser) wants boys to have a bar code to help her choose the perfect deflowerer... but help comes from a very unexpected direction - when she visits a virtual reality expo with friend Chas (Luke De Lacey) after stud Alex (Kieran O`Brien) stands them up. Talked into a makeover by a couple of spruikers she decides instead to create her perfect virtual reality mate - a nearby gas explosion causes havoc, Justine becomes Jake - (Rupert Penry-Jones) ... I wasn`t aware that the Brits were hanging out to move into early John Hughes` territory and I`m not convinced they have... this is a no-brainer... apart from just about every character being quite unlikeable, I can`t believe 17 year olds are so superficial and puerile, and the film`s direction emulates the least attractive traits of it`s characters... the director was Nick Curran working on a supposedly high concept screenplay by Nick Fisher... It could be that it`s not for my age group but Virtual Sexuality - what a cop-out title - is really not my cup of tea... David`s comments:A rather sweet, amusing - and candid - romantic comedy with a lovely performance from Laura Fraser. It`s nothing out of the box, but the unusual story of a 17-year-old`s search for the perfect guy is original and charming -and quite candid as far as sexual matters.
