Watch an edgy short film from Nepal

The Contagious Apparitions of Dambarey Dendrite comes from a new generation of Nepali filmmakers.

The Contagious Apparitions of Dambarey Dendrite, Nepal
As the search and rescue efforts continue in earthquake-affected areas, we thought we'd share a tribute to the innovation of Nepal's next generation of filmmakers.

The Contagious Apparitions of Dambarey Dendrite is a trippy short film from Pooja Gurung and Bibhusan Basnet, which recently screened on SBS 2.

The award-winning short blends animation and gamer imagery to tell the story of Dambarey, a glue-sniffing street kid, sleeping rough in Kathmandu. His hallucinations spark animated fantasies in which he’s a helmet-headed superhero, protecting the sleeping city.
