Former Australian Test cricketer Brett Lee has taken a break from sports commentating to make his acting debut in a Bollywood rom-com set in Sydney.
In 's UnIndian, Lee plays Will, a teacher of English to new Australian migrants who soon has to undergo his own cultural education when he falls in love with Indian Australian Meera - played by Tannishtha Chatterjee (Brick Lane).

While shooting the comedy last year, Lee told SBS he'd had a number of Bollywood film offers but this was the first that appealed to him.
“This film is Australian with an Indian flavour, and after reading it several times I could see myself playing Will. He’s what I am as a person and the way the two different cultures interact in the film is what I stand for,” Lee said.
Meera, his love interest, does not fit the “usual western view of brown women”, Chatterjee told SBS.
"She has a great job, is independent, a single mum and happy with her life. When she meets someone, she is the one who is economically better off.”
But, as the trailer shows, Meera still has a "typical Indian Mum" and a family who don't approve of the match with a 'white man' who's not even a doctor.
Can Meera convince her family she's in love? Can Will give up non-vegetarian beer and learn how to dance?
This is not Lee's first appearance in a Bollywood film. In 2009 he played himself in Victory, which centred around a cricket tournament.
UnIndian opens in Australian cinemas on October 15.
