"Every legend has a beginning," begins the teaser trailer for Kriv Stenders' Red Dog: True Blue, a sequel/origin story for his runaway Oz hit, Red Dog.
The film - formerly known as Blue Dog - shot in the Pilbara region of Western Australia in 2015 and unites veteran Australian actors Bryan Brown and John Jarratt with newcomer Levi Miller and UK actor Jason Isaacs, in the '60s-set story a boy and his remarkable puppy.
When 11 year old Mick (Miller) is shipped off to his grandfather's (Brown) cattle station in the remote Pilbara region of Western Australia, he prepares himself for a life of dull hardship, but instead finds myth, adventure, and a friendship with a scrappy, one-of-a-kind dog that will change his life forever.
Stenders has reunited with the same creative team behind Red Dog, namely producer Nelson Woss and writer Daniel Taplitz.
Red Dog: True Blue will release around Australia on Boxing Day 2016.
